Improving Community Relations Through Autism Awareness Training

CONSTABLE'S OFFICE PROVIDING LAW ENFORCEMENT INTERACTION WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE AUTISM TRAINING
On January 6, 2025, Constable Mark Herman's Training Division provided Law Enforcement Interaction with People Who Have Autism training to numerous law enforcement officers with this agency and Tomball ISD.
This course equips Law Enforcement personnel with critical knowledge and practical strategies for interacting effectively with individuals who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Deputies learn to recognize common symptoms, respond appropriately to behavioral challenges, and employ de-escalation techniques in crisis situations. The training emphasizes understanding, empathy, and adaptability to ensure safe, respectful, and effective interactions, improving community relations and safety for everyone involved.
Constable Mark Herman's Training Division is a recognized Texas Commission on Law Enforcement training provider who provides continuing education training to sworn law enforcement officers from all over Harris County and all contiguous counties. This training is provided free of charge and provides the officers knowledge needed to better serve the community.
