Last year, CFISD implemented CEEP to help reduce energy usage and electric costs while helping students learn habits, lessons and strategies to help conserve energy.

All 56 CFISD elementary schools were divided into four groups of 14 campuses and competed for awards of Most Improved and Most Efficient relating to energy usage. If a participating campus was the Most Improved or the Most Efficient in their group, it received $2,500 to its campus activity fund. If participating campuses reached a goal of at least 5 percent energy savings, the school received $1,200 for its campus activity fund.

Campuses also competed for the Overall Most Efficient Campus and Overall Most Improved Campus. Millsap Elementary School was named the Overall Most Efficient Campus, and Sheridan Elementary School was named the Overall Most Improved Campus. Each received $5,000 to its campus activity fund.

"This program far surpassed my vision for it in its first year," said Leah Spurlock, CFISD's HVAC and lighting systems manager. "The schools did a remarkable job running this program at their campuses. CFISD has definitely put CEEP on the map and this program is one that others would like to follow."
