17-year-old Gonzalez is heavily involved in journalism at the campus and district level, serving as editor in chief for Cypress Falls' yearbook and participating in the High School Journalism Network. She was also nominated to speak at graduation.Favorite class: "Yearbook because I am comfortable with everyone here, it is a safe place and the teacher is sweet."Favorite things to do after class: "I like to read and watch Netflix. I also like to attend school events with my friends and take photos."Favorite website: "Twitter because it has memes."Favorite TV show: "I don't really have a favorite because I like a variety of genres."Favorite movie: "10 Things I Hate About You and Shrek 2. The first one because it is funny and relatable. It's not like your everyday teen movie. I like Shrek 2 because of the soundtrack and it is hilarious. Donkey is my favorite character because he reminds me of me because I never shut up."Ambition: "I want to have a career in journalism because I enjoy writing, but beyond that, I enjoying designing and would love one day to design the cover for a magazine."What topics/things are you passionate about?: "My family because I am very close with them. We do everything together. Immigration because my parents are immigrants and I can relate to the issues going on with immigration right now."What inspires you?: "I inspire myself. I believe that comparing yourself to other people only results in you trying to become like someone else. I am my own person and the only way I can strive to be better is to work to outdo myself."What three things can't you live without?: "My books, friends and family."What are you most looking forward to this semester?: "I'm looking forward to making my parents proud because I will be the first person in my family to go to college."
