11-year-old Roden and her teammates created a water filtration system to the National Geographic GeoChallenge, which is a competition that challenges students across the United States to develop solutions to real-world problems. The project was selected to regional competition in March.
Favorite class: "Language arts and reading because I enjoy reading each day and participating in book clubs."
Favorite things do after class: "Play with my friends and play softball."
Favorite website: "I like to watch 'how to' videos on YouTube."
Favorite TV show: "I like classics, specifically Full House because it addresses everyday problems in a funny way."
Favorite movie: "To All the Boys I've Loved Before because I enjoy movies that address real situations."
Ambition: "I would like to pursue engineering because I like arts and crafts and technology and I think this profession will allow me to combine my interests."
What topics/things are you passionate about?: "I love arts and sports. I like that with art, you can express yourself in a variety of ways."
Who inspires you?: "I'm inspired by my mother and admire her determination."
What three things can't you live without?: "I can't live without my friends, family and food. I really like Italian food."
What are you most looking forward to this semester: "I'm really excited about completing sixth grade and moving to seventh grade. I plan to participate in athletics and start the first engineering class."
