15-year-old Tran has excelled across the country and internationally in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, which includes winning several grand slam events and medaling at the U15 World International Championships held in Las Vegas over the summer.
Favorite class: "World History as I enjoy reading and studying about times and places in history."
Favorite thing to do after class: "Studying and living the Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle, which encompasses eating well, sleeping well and training consistently."
Favorite song: "I enjoy rap music."
Favorite website: "Ibjjf.com (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation official website) because I'm constantly checking the Jiu-Jitsu events."
Ambition: "I would like to win the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship."
What topics/things are you passionate about?: "Jiu-Jitsu of course is my passion and studying hard in school."
What inspires you?: "I'm inspired by Keenan Cornelius, who won the grand slam in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in both his weight and open weight classes. He's the first American to win the title."
What three things can't you live without?: "Phone, my kimomo and my Jiu-Jitsu belt."
What are you most looking forward to this semester?: "I am looking to strive high on and off the mat."
