A 62-year-old Houston man is facing Intoxication Manslaughter charges after his female passenger was killed when he drove off the road and crashed near 1960 & 290 this past weekend.

According to police reports, on Saturday, November 10th, 2018, at approximately 3:00 AM, the defendant, identified as Salvador Lopez (62, Houston), was operating a 2008 Nissan Versa outbound on the controlled access lanes in the 19300 block of US 290.
 
The defendant failed to maintain a single lane of traffic and struck the crash attenuator between the main lanes and the FM 1960 exit ramp. The unidentified female passenger in the Nissan was found with no signs of life on scene as a result of the collision.
 
The defendant was found to be intoxicated. Due to his intoxication, he failed to maintain a single lane of traffic and struck the attenuator which caused the death of the complainant.
 
The Harris County District Attorney's Office accepted the charge of Intoxication Manslaughter against the defendant.
 
This case is currently open and being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff's Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
