Now in its sixth year, the annual CFISD Back-to-School Expo is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road). The Expo provides a number of helpful resources to incoming students, parents and prospective employees, allowing for a smooth transition into the school district.

Last year's event saw more than 4,300 patrons and guests.
New students (K-12) can register for the 2018-2019 school year at the Expo with proper documentation. A parent/guardian's photo ID, student's birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency are required. Registration forms will be available in English and Spanish.
Heath-related opportunities will also be available for parents and students. Immunizations will be administered by the Harris County Health Department for children who have Medicaid, CHIP and Gold Card or no medical insurance. Parents are asked to provide shot records.
CFISD health services will administer vision screenings (not a complete eye exam). Business partner Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital will conduct athletic physicals for $20 apiece (cash only).
CFISD nutrition services will have Blender Bikes and applications for free and reduced-priced meals.
Representatives from CFISD human resources will be onsite regarding employment opportunities.

"CFISD is looking forward to welcoming our new students and families to the 2018-2019 school year," said Ify Ogwumike, assistant superintendent for student services. "For six years, the Back-to-School Expo has offered a 'one-stop' resource for newcomers to the district. Each year we build upon our community turnout at this great event, which embodies the theme of 'CFISD, Opportunities for All' in 2018-2019."
