A local man has been arrested on charges of Arson and Endangering a Child after investigators found evidence he intentionally set his house on fire with his wife and children inside.
According to reports from HCFMO, on December 16, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Harris County Fire Marshal's Office fire investigators were requested to assist Cypress Creek Fire Department with a residential fire in the 12000 block of Rockharbor Ln, Houston, TX 77070.
Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set, and have arrested Jimmy Klayton Lauder (DOB 8/19/1987) for arson and child endangerment.
"Mr. Lauder intentionally set fire, using an ignitable liquid, to the home he shared with his wife and two small children," said Fire Marshal Laurie L. Christensen. "We are extremely grateful that no one was injured in this fire and that the female victim and her two children are safe. The Harris County District Attorney's Office has accepted the charges of arson and child endangerment. Mr. Lauder has been booked into the Harris County Jail."
A working smoke alarm notified the female victim of the fire, which enabled her to call 911 and quickly escape with the assistance of first responders.
