Meet Hopper Middle School eighth grade student Nikolas Macedo in this "Student of the Week" profile.

13-year-old Nikolas is an Honor Roll student, has been recognized for his leadership skills on and off the athletic field, and helped his summer league basketball team win the championship title. He was also named Hopper's student-athlete of the year.
Favorite class: "Math, because I have a fascination with numbers and trying to figure out problems."
Favorite thing to do after class: "I'm either at the gym or at home spending time with my younger brothers. I love to read to them, play hide-and-seek with them and teach them about living a healthy lifestyle."
Favorite song: "Coming in Hot by Lecrae."
Favorite website: "YouTube, because I'm always watching football videos and trying to learn new things from past and present athletes."
Favorite TV show: "Big Brother, because I'm a natural competitor and love the competition aspect of the show."
Favorite movie: "All the Marvel movies."
Ambition: "I want to be successful not only in school but in sports, too. I know what hard work can do and in time it will all pay off."
What topics/things are you passionate about?: "Sports and my family."
What inspires you?: "My mom. She's always been my biggest cheerleader in life and is always pushing me to reach my fullest potential."
What three things can't you live without?: "I would say my family, football and God."
What are you most looking forward to this semester?: "I'm looking forward to learning more in math and another football season with my team, especially having Coach [Antonio] Rodriguez and Coach [Lyndon] James."
